My children's safety on the internet: My responsibility as a parent
As parents, we have a very important role to play in ensuring our children's safety on the internet:
- The best thing to do is to talk to our children so we can understand what they are using the internet and social media for.
- Ask them about the websites they use and what they use them for. Ask them what they like about using the internet and what they don’t like.
- Talk to them about what they think is good and bad behaviour on the internet and social media.
- It is important to have open communication so that they will feel comfortable telling us about what they do online and if they are upset about something that has happened to them.
- Ask them to help us learn more about using the internet. Many children are very good at using the internet and can help us learn.
